Dress-up box

A dress-up box is magical! Children can be whoever they want to be. When they dress up, they can create a story and special world. They can even go on an adventure. This will build their imagination, creativity and storytelling. You could dress up, too!

What do I need?

• Box to keep your dress-ups in
• Clothes
• Hats
• Scarves
• Jewellery
• Toys

How do I do it?

1. Your dress-up box can be any container you have available. (A box with a lid makes your child’s play even more exciting!)
2. Place all your dress-up items in the box.
3. As your child dresses up, they can create characters and talk about:
   • who they are,
   • what they are doing
   • where they are going.

No-one knows your child better than you.  So, choose and/or adapt ideas here to best suit you and your child. Remember it’s the talking and time spent together that matters most.
