Gifted Children

Is your child doing things earlier than you would expect? 

From birth, some children show signs that they are progressing faster than usual. This can be in one or more areas of development. 

No one knows your child better than you. If you have noticed that your child is developing differently to other children, they might be gifted.

Early entry to school 

Some gifted children benefit from starting school early. 

Early entry to school is an option for children who are formally recognised as gifted. 

To learn more about this process in Tasmanian Government schools, please contact Gifted.Highlyable@decyp.tas.gov.au. Your child will need to be at least 3 years and 6 months on January 1 to be considered.
