Autism is a condition that affects how a person thinks, feels and interacts with others.

It can also change how they experience their environment.

Every autistic person experiences autism differently. This is why it is described as a “spectrum”.

Around 1 in 70 Australians are thought to be on the autism spectrum.

If you have any concerns about your child, it’s a good idea to raise them as early as possible.

In the first instance, talk to your child health nurse or family doctor.

Do you think your child has autism?

The Tasmanian Autism Diagnostic Service (TADS) can assess your child.

This is a free service for children aged 18 and under.

To access TADS, you will need a referral from a paediatrician, child/adolescent psychiatrist or psychologist.
